Rage of the Gladiator - second impressions

Ghostfire Games have struck gold with their latest WiiWare brawler. I have already revealed my first impressions from playing Rage of the Gladiator. After having spent some more time with the game, I feel that it might actually be so good as to make me trade-in my Punch-out. Not that I wouldn't like it, yet with the game-play being so similar in these two games, there is little reason to own both.

Let me run a short comparison
  • Rage of the Gladiator: Story mode? Check! Diverse and entertaining enemies? Check. Wide range of control options? Check. Character development? Check! Satisfying game-play? Check!
  • Punch-Out:  Story mode? Not really! Diverse and entertaining enemies? Check. Wide range of control options? Check. Character development? No! Satisfying game-play? Check!
Now count in the fact that Punch-Out is a first party retail disc title, which costs about four times as much as the Rage of the Gladiator and add the fact that the Ghostfire Game's title controls BETTER when using the Wiimote and Nunchuck control scheme and you have a clear winner. I applaud Ghostfire Games! Let' s celebrate with another trailer for their game.
